Gleichen-Cluny United Fund
The Gleichen-Cluny United Fund was started in 1965 to provide an opportunity to donate to all charities at one time and avoid duplication of canvassers coming to people’s doors. The United Fund has made a request to all the charities on its list that they not canvass on their own in the Gleichen-Cluny area. Any charity can request to be added to our list if they send the United Fund a letter with their Registered Charity number and a request for the United Fund to Canvass on their behalf.
The Gleichen-Cluny United Fund is a volunteer organization. Administration costs are minimal, so donations go directly to the charities of choice.
An Emergency Fund was also established in 1965 to make funds available to the Gleichen-Cluny community in the event of an emergency. In 1990, the Emergency Fund was designated for:
- Severe local medical emergencies not covered by other agencies.
- The interest off the capital be used to purchase emergency equipment for emergency use.
- Good Neighbour Policy: Money will be made available for families or individuals in distress as loans or, in extreme cases, as donations.
